The woodland unit can visit your local organisation meetings to talk about our work and the woods of Glasgow.
We will soon be starting a series of woodland walks to look at existing conditions and options for management. These will be held at weekends in areas that are management priorities. The walks are the first stage in a consultation process that seeks to enable communities and interest groups to get involved in the management of their local woodland.
After this a set of options will be presented to stakeholders. To secure a wide spectrum of community opinion and involvement, meetings with community councils, youth groups, other organisations and the general public, using such places as libraries or shopping centres, will take place and postal surveys will also be undertaken.
The community's responses will be used to identify appropriate local woodland management regimes.
There are a number of ways people can get involved in this process;
An email newsletter will be used to keep interested people informed about events and activities within Glasgow's woodlands.
